The Dossier, Portland

An elegant accommodation.

Located in downtown Portland, Oregon, local hotel firm Provenance Hotels’ latest opening, the Dossier, is an elegant addition to the city’s array of accommodations.

Step inside, and your first impression may be of the hotel’s discretion—a modestly sleek, hushed lobby branches off towards elevators and, to your right, Opal, a semiformal little bar operated by Portland’s hip Lightning Bar Collective. There, one may take breakfast, or inventive evening cocktails like the Sweetpea—a sunny mix of tequila, crème de pêche, chartreuse, and olive oil. If it’s a romantic dinner you’re after, intimate in-house Italian restaurant Omertà is a fine dining gem in this famously laid-back city. Order classics like chicken parmesan with lemon penne or a generous veal chop, and enjoy the charming service and candlelit ambiance.

But venture upstairs into any of the Dossier’s 205 natural light-flooded rooms and it will become clear just how much care the hotel takes to make its guests comfortable. Decor is sumptuous, with honour bars thoughtfully stocked with crystalware and local beverages, dove grey marble sunken baths, and voluptuous white beds—from which you are welcome to enjoy a pint of Portland-made Salt & Straw ice cream, delivered at a moment’s notice. Photos by America’s famed chronicler of the jet-set, Slim Aarons, add a refined touch.

Additional details, like EV charging stations, convenient town car service, and accoutrements for pet-owners, help one’s stay at the Dossier unfold without a hitch—as any great hotel should, it makes one feel both indulged, and wonderfully at home.

The Dossier, 750 SW Alder St, Portland, OR 97205, USA.
