Martone Cycling Co.

More than a pretty frame.

With their red chains and bold hues, New York–based Martone Cycling Co.’s bicycle designs are undoubtedly attractive. Founded by Brazilian fashion consultant Lorenzo Martone in 2013, it’s no surprise that Martone bicycles don a chic aesthetic. But with high-tech features and a partnership with a local charity, Martone aspires to be much more than beautiful.

All of Martone’s eight designs (available for both men and women) are designed for the urban cycler and feature a SRAM 2-gear automatic hub that, similar to an automatic transmission, eliminates the need to switch gears by intuitively adapting to the biking conditions. For those who need a little extra help during their commute, Martone also designs an e-bike, the Marton-E, with five speeds and a rechargeable battery; at 22 kilograms, it is also among the lightest e-bikes.

Aside from advancing bike technology, the company is also committed to bettering the environment. Customers who donate a second-hand bike to New York charity Recycle-A-Bike—a non-profit that refurbishes bikes and provides community resources—will receive $150 (U.S.) off their Martone replacement.

For Martone, looking good and doing good go hand in hand.
