David Webb at Holt Renfrew, Vancouver

The New York jeweller's Canadian debut.

Known for its bold and colourful designs, New York jeweller David Webb is making its Canadian debut at Holt Renfrew in Vancouver with a special trunk show September 8 through 11, 2017.

Founded in New York by its namesake designer in 1948, David Webb’s jewels soon became statement pieces coveted by celebrities, socialites, and 20th-century style icons including Elizabeth Taylor, Jackie Kennedy, and Diana Vreeland.

The modern David Webb carries on that spirit and illustrious heritage, tapping into the house’s archives for inspiration to create contemporary jewellery that has attracted today’s glitterati including Dakota Johnson, Amy Adams, Katy Perry, Kim Kardashian, and others.

“David Webb design is distinctive—at times bold and declarative, and at times nuanced and colourful,” describes Mark Emanuel, current owner of the company, which still makes jewellery by hand in its Madison Avenue workshop. “The look is always modern and always classic. It carries a unique style, and most of the time, a good David Webb piece can be literally recognized from across the room.”

Emanuel will be on hand at Holt Renfrew to greet guests and showcase several one-of-a-kind pieces. Ruth Peltason, author of David Webb: The Quintessential American Jeweler, will also be there to talk about the house’s history and significance in the American jewellery scene. “It’s an opportunity to showcase some of our icons and brand collections to a new audience with discerning taste and plenty of sophistication,” says Emanuel. “And Holt Renfrew is a world-class standard for the presentation of high luxury.”
