Flower Mountain’s Sneaker Style

Pattern-heavy kicks.

Japan-based footwear maker Flower Mountain is relatively new to the sneaker game. A collaboration between Japanese designer Keisuke Ota and Chinese mate Yang Chao, the label is all about print-heavy kicks. The pair share a common love for trekking, music, and footwear, and it was during the Fuji Rock Festival on Mount Fuji that the idea of Flower Mountain was first aired. Their combined design experience manifested into shoes with the help of Italian manufacturers for a designed-in-Japan, made-in-Italy sneaker.

Each pair of Flower Mountain sneakers combines canvas, mesh, and leather into a shoe that can be worn anywhere, anytime. The trail-running inspired silhouette features bold colours, prints, and patterns for an athletic design with a fashion-forward style. The natural cork insoles are treated with Agion antimicrobial silver zeolite, a natural mineral compound that repels bacteria—so, if you so wish, forget the socks.

The sneakers have unisex appeal, but each season there is a dedicated collection for both men and women. Come fall, Flower Mountain will release a capsule collection by Walter Van Beirendonck, inspired by ancient Japanese floral motifs and kimono-checked patterns.
