An architectural luminary and a fashion-house great will come together in Paris this fall with the opening of the Fondation Louis Vuitton in a new Frank Gehry–designed building. Situated in the Jardin d’Acclimatation, Gehry’s creation houses 11 galleries and one auditorium, all destined to showcase the permanent contemporary art collection of the Fondation Louis Vuitton, rotating shows, and live performances. The space opens on October 27 with a Frank Gehry exhibit, presented in dialogue with the first European retrospective of the architect’s work, which also opens that month at the Centre Pompidou. Fondation Louis Vuitton’s exterior resembles a cloud of glass, and panoramic views of Paris will be fittingly on show from the ethereal vantage points of its well-positioned terraces.
