Score + Solder Lighting

Radiant shapes.

Pemberton-based designer Matthew Cleland is known for his handmade terrariums—miniature plant ecosystems made of glass and lead-free solder—sold throughout Canada, the United States, and Japan. Inspired by the simple and clean geometric designs of the terrariums, Cleland’s company, Score + Solder has now introduced a lighting collection. In the new series, Cleland draws on his knowledge of traditional stained glass methods passed down from his father. Lighting was an intuitive move for Cleland, who founded the company in 2009. “Many of the shapes already lend themselves nicely as lighting so it’s just a matter of combining them with quality fixtures,” he says. The striking containers have been reimagined as six table lamps available in clear or coloured glass.
