Bachelor pads often conjure images of dark mahogany, rich leather, and low lighting, but few things liven up a space like the colour white. For the discerning man, a fresh take on the club chair from Vancouver-based artist and designer Martha Sturdy. Her sculptural Preston Club Chair is made from low profile resin and outfitted with Italian leather cushions, with illumination available upon request. A Multi Stripe Point Blanket softens the Preston and adds a punch of primary colour. This Canadian classic from Hudson’s Bay was first commissioned by the company in 1800, and the woolen blanket has never been out of production.

Another success story, the very capable Lomo’Instant Camera by Lomography is the result of a Kickstarter campaign, and takes all the charms of the beloved Polaroid to the next level with fish-eye, portrait, and close-up lenses. Entertainment continues with the Cirrus Ice Ball Press, which is as much a party trick as a spirit drinker’s necessity. Milled from solid aluminum, the press produces tennis ball-sized ice spheres in a mere 30 seconds. The coffee, tea, or cocoa inclined can opt for a TAC Big Cities mug, a collaboration between design firm Kilo and the Bjarke Ingels Group for porcelain manufacturer Rosenthal. The series of 12 mugs features city skylines outlined in heritage blue on white porcelain, including Copenhagen, London, Berlin, Paris, and New York.

Architectural elements also reign in Los Angeles–based designer John Wigmore’s light installations. His latest collection for Ralph Pucci includes the #13 horizontal wall piece in Moriki white with a band paper finish. This incandescent light source provides a refreshing visual symmetry with a 90-degree spin. Carry the texture over to counters with Caesarstone’s Nuvo quartz, a polished, 20-millimetre-thick non-porous surface—a rich feel and blank canvas for household items, such as Versace’s Medusa Prisma Crystal pieces. The set, part of the Italian fashion house’s home collection, features sharp gold accents—just the ticket to make any bachelor feel like a king.
