In years of late, the atmosphere at Chapters Indigo has shifted from big-box bookstore to lifestyle emporium. Shelves once reserved to show off tomes are lined with candles, home decor, and e-reader accessories, making the giant a one-stop-shop for gifting. That doesn’t mean, however, that the company has neglected those dedicated bibliophiles looking to adorn their home libraries with smart stacks. Chapters Indigo has a wealth of visual volumes that are ideal for last minute gifts.

In Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has to Travel, the “High Priestess of Fashion” is immortalized by none other than her granddaughter-in-law, Lisa Immordino Vreeland. The book features over 350 illustrations, magazine spreads, and photographs paying homage to her career as a creative force in fashion.

Likewise, Linda McCartney: Life in Photographs also offers tribute to an artist no longer with us. The print retrospective traces the rock ‘n’ roll roots of Linda Eastman from her candid Rolling Stones images and her famous Eric Clapton cover shot for Rolling Stone to her tenure as a lead photographer of the 1960’s music scene.

In Pharrell: Places and Spaces I’ve Been, Pharrell Williams details his pursuits in music, fashion, and design, charting his creative course via collaborations with hip-hop artists Kanye West and Jay-Z, fashion houses Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs, and artistic forces KAWS and Zaha Hadid.

Marian Bantjes: Pretty Pictures is the typographer and illustrator’s first complete monograph—a review of her creative output over the last decade. Candid commentary on her design process is accompanied by observations on ornamental design, her start as a typesetter, and the advent of digital technology.

These art and design books blend detail and depth and easily stand on their own on bookshelves, tables, or the like. Although, if you’re stopping at a store to pick one up, some atmospheric candles and a knit throw pair nicely.
